If your dog is not fixed or does not play nice with others, then a 1-on-1 leashed walk will be the best option. If your dog is fixed and plays well with others, then the determining factor between pack adventures and private playdates is going to be your dog's off leash experience and ability to recall reliably. Because our private playdates are in a fully fenced private dog park, recall is only a requirement for our pack walks, which are done at public off leash dog parks. A mandatory trial walk is used to assess your dog's recall ability and social manners.
We do trial walks on a long lead and test for recall on our stroll. If your dog is responsive, then the lead is dropped (but remains clipped to collar). If your dog is still recalling reliably at this point, the lead is unclipped. If your dog is responsive to recall while fully free, the recall only strengthens with time (bonding with walker and pack mates really helps). If at any point your dog is not responding at a level we are comfortable with, they will not proceed to the next step.
Absolutely. With the Amiko Dog Walk Tracker app you will know where we travelled, total distance travelled, and the duration of our outing, which will be sent to you every week (with the exception of our private play dates). You can also see what your dog has been up to on our Weekly Wags posted on our Instagram and Facebook accounts! Our most visited spots are: David Bartlett Park, Beryl Gaffney Park, Conroy Pit, Country Canine, Richmond Park n Bark.
As long as they have all of the required vaccinations, we're happy to have them! To join a pack adventure or private playdate, they need to be over 6 months old and sterilized. The earlier they start, the better - that's when they learn the quickest, especially from a pack!
