Q: Which walking service is best for my dog? 1-on-1, pack adventures, or private playdates?
A: If your dog is not fixed or does not play nice with others, then a 1-on-1 leashed walk will be the best option. If your dog is fixed and plays well with others, then the determining factor between pack adventures and private playdates is going to be your dog's off leash experience and ability to recall reliably. Because our private playdates are in a fully fenced private dog park, recall is only a requirement for our pack walks, which are done at public off leash dog parks. A mandatory trial walk is used to assess your dog's recall ability and social manners.
Q: What if my dog runs away during the off-leash pack adventure?
A: We do trial walks on a long lead and test for recall on our stroll. If your dog is responsive, then the lead is dropped (but remains clipped to collar). If your dog is still recalling reliably at this point, the lead is unclipped. If your dog is responsive to recall while fully free, the recall only strengthens with time (bonding with walker and pack mates really helps). If at any point your dog is not responding at a level we are comfortable with, they will not proceed to the next step.
Q: Is there a way to know where my dog is and how much exercise they're getting?
A: Absolutely. With the Tractive Dog Walk app you will know where we travelled, total distance travelled, and the duration of our outing, which will be sent to you every week with your dog (with the exception of our private play dates). You can even track us live - and you don't even need to have the app! You will also receive weekly photos and a message about your dog's adventures! Our most visited spots are: David Bartlett Park, Beryl Gaffney Park, Conroy Pit, Bruce Pit, Country Canine, Richmond Park n Bark.
Q: Is my puppy too young for your services?
A: As long as they have all of the required vaccinations, we're happy to have them! To join a pack adventure or private playdate, they need to be over 6 months old and sterilized. The earlier they start, the better - that's when they learn the quickest, especially from a pack!
Q: How do I make payments?
A: We accept E-transfer, PayPal (which includes debit and all major credit cards), checks, and cash. Instructions for these options will be directly on your invoice. Invoices are e-mailed out monthly, 14 days prior to the end of the month.
